Quarterfinals: Casillas and Villa lead Spain to the Semis

Share |

Spain proved to be a serious candidate but Paraguay was one of the strongest teams still alive in the Cup. Del Bosque's side even needed Iker Casillas to stop a penalty shot by Oscar Cardozo to have a chance of winning this game.

And that was because the talented Xavi Alonso miss a penalty for Spain too, in one of the moust exciting matches of South Africa 2010. This clash took place at the Ellis Park Stadium, in Johannesburg, and the winner goal was netted by David Villa only at the minute 83. It was the end of the story for Paraguay and the beginning of the dream for the "Red Fury".
